Ernst’s creative career spans advertising, publishing, music, large scale web application design and film. He is well versed in Graphic Design, Branding and Identity Design, UI Design, and Photo Compositing and Retouching. Ernst is currently Design Director at VMLY&R South Africa, where he heads up the Multichoice Africa account.
Ernst completed a degree in multimedia design, finishing first in his class. He has had the privilege of working on world-class brands such as Absolut, American Swiss, BMW, TFG, Jameson, Old Mutual, Red Bull and many more. Over the years he has been an integral part of campaigns that have garnered 1 Cannes Gold, 2 Cannes Silver, 1 Cannes Bronze, 2 Gold Loeries, 5 Silver Loeries, 1 Gold Bookmark, and 7 Silver Bookmarks, to name just a few.
At a young age, Ernst’s obsessions with van Gogh’s The Starry Night and building colour perfect Lego creations ignited his passion for art & design. This passion continued through school where he took up painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and ceramics. Ernst is still known to make a vase or two.
Ernst’s main objective in life is to make the world a more aesthetically pleasing place.
